Brilliant choice of card there!! I had one in my system for about a week, before giving back to my friend, couldn't get enough of it!! that coming from a huge change between GTX 260 and the GTX 460!!

hopefully you'll be benefitting from direct x 11 and great FERMI communications for speedy rates!!!

I just upgraded from a BFG 8800gt OC to the gigabyte GTX 460 last week. It was a forced upgrade because I got a new HD monitor and the 8800gt pretty much started dieing right then. Tried everything to fix, but in the end it just couldn't handle 1920x1080 resolution and it had enough. I have no problems at all with the GTX460. It performs cool and well at 1920x1080, so stop worring about your purchase, you will like it.

The card is well worth the money and you will see a huge difference upgrading from an 8800GT. I don't own the card, but as zipzoom says, the reviews and benches speak for themselves. Plus, i read on other forums about people going from HD 4850 to a GTX460 and they say that there is a big difference, and considering HD 4850>8800GT, there you have it;)

I previously had a BFG GTX275 896MB OC. The 460s are much shorter - approximately 3 inches. I got two eVGA GTX460s 768MB OC. They are in an SLI configuration. So... I really can't speak with respect to the performance of one.

Otherwise, I am very pleased with my purchase. The cards are really quiet and run relatively cool. I'm in Canada, and the summers still get very hot (40 C = 104 F in some areas, plus high humidity!) I'm close to the mountainous area where it can reach about 35 C - 95 F. Using GPUz, I've only seen the cards get in the mid 60s (Celsius). I'm using an Antec 900 II Gamer case.

I would think if you are buying just one of them, go with the 1GB version. If you are doing an SLI configuration, I'm guessing either of the 768MB or 1GB versions would be sufficient.

If I knew how to (relatively new member), I would post some images of my set up and a side by side length comparison (460 vs 275).

Also, the eVGA warranty is excellent to have.

Yeah you will be happy. Here is a benchmark to prove it...

(I know I used a 9800GT, but they are essentially the same thing and perform the same)
