Hard drive not recognised

My seagate 500 GB hard disk is not recognized by my computer after falling down. The light in front is showing, but the disk is not detected anywhere, and the motor doesn't seem to be running either. The disk is making no sound. Has it crashed irrecoverably? Or is it possible to do something about it?

Unless you can see a loose cable or a broken connection that you could fix, trash it if it doesn't contain data that you absolutely need. If it does, then it will be expensive to get your data back.

Edit: If it's an external drive, then you should test it as an internal drive in your system.
