Hd 5770 bluscreen issue

Just got the ProColor HD 5770 1gb vram and I'm getting a bluescreen error when the drivers are installing (particularly on the analyzing hardware step).

Current system is as follows:
OS - win 7 pro 64 bit
CPU - intel core 2 duo e7400 @ 2.8 ghz
ram 4 gb DDR2 - 800

what would be causing this! please help, Thank you!

Are you using drivers off the CD? Did you have an ATI or Nvidia card in there prior? You should be using the latest ATI/AMD drivers, if 10.8 is not working for you try 10.4.

i somehow got it working, i took some ram out, not sure if that fixed it but I tried both the cd drivers and the current downloaded ones. but it worked the last time with the downloaded version. thanks!

also found out its the latest catalyst driver update that kills it. any idea on how to fix it? (i guess i ended up installing from the disk)

I indeed did have a 7600GT prior to this card

make sure all most recent windows updates are isntalled. Update motherboard BIOS and drivers. Remove video card drivers from your old card. Try those few things.
