IDE HDD to SATA

I need to find a converter that turns IDE HDD's into SATA cables.
However all the ones i can find can only be used as a slave drive.
I want to install another operating system on to it.
But will it matter if it is a slave drive?

Just note that you will need to run power to the adaptor as well as your IDE HDD.
