Ok i just built myself a new rig
AMD Phenom 2*6 1090T
6GB DDR3 RAM 1333MHZ
600WATT PSU
XFX ATI RADEON HD 4890
But i have nor noticed a big increase in fps on most games i play.crysis warhead performance only increased by 1fps ,nfs shift 10 fps slower.metro 2033 IS ACTUALLY RUNNING BETTER ON MY GTX 260.Is there a problem with my rig coz this rig with a 4890 should samsh my other gtx 260.there are minimal gains in fps in all games.
MY Other rig
Intel core i7 870 processor
6GB DDR3 RAM
650W PSU
MSI NVIDIA geforce gtx 260 CORE 216 1792 MB SINGLE CARD LIGHTNING EDITION

Using catalyst 10.3 coz the other newer ones slowed my performance in other games

The difference between the 4890 and the GTX 260 216 1.7GB edition, is kind of small. The 4890 is better, but not my much. And games that are heavy in physx and TWIMTBP, like Metro 2033, the GTX 260 216 edition will outperform it.

I don't know who told you it would "smash" a GTX 260 216 1.7GB edition, but it shouldn't. It will perform better, but not great deal.

EDIT - Your other computer with the 260 has a lot better CPU too.

lol.then its better if i sell it while its new.will a ati 5830 out performe the gtx 260 core 216.PLZ DON'T SUGGEST THE 5850 coz my budget isnt that high.will the 5830 out perform my current gtx 260 core 216.i have a 600W PSU so power heat shouldnt matter

Well its better just not by a lot.

I think you might want to go for the GTX 460, 1GB version preferably, if you can afford it. Otherwise I don't think the upgrade will be justifable.

what difference in fps can i expect in games like metro 2033 crysis(other games my gtx 260 easily maxes out).will there be at least a 5 fps gain in metro 2033 compared to my gtx 260 core 216?

Reply to sadseada123

With what? The GTX 460? You can expect a lot more then 5fps in gains in those games.

Why don't you try the 4890 in the other computer, I bet it would work better on that 870 then the AMD CPU.

I think your cpu might be the problem there. Theres many people that are disappointed witht the x6 game performance.

crysis and metro 2033 mainly rely on gpu more than cpu.so the performance should be a lot higher than just 1 or 2 fps
