Hello,XP operating system - getting error message: windows root\windows system32 ntoskrnl.exe - will not open in Safe mode - HELP!

  1. Corrupted files. I don't believe you will be able to recover that. Time for a reinstall of windows.
  2. Before reinstalling/formatting windows try REPAIR first during installation of the OS so that you will not lose your windows settings and other installed programs.
  3. Not certain on this myself but I did manage to find this, which seems to be worth a look through, specifically the last post.

    You shouldn't need to completely re-install for one missing/corrupt file. You should be able to replace the file using either the recovery console or by performing a repair install as venjhammet suggested. Good luck!
