I've got a Gigabyte GA31M and 2 2Gb DDR2 800 RAM sticks: 1 is a Kingston and the other a Markvision. They're apparently working fine, Windows 7 Ultimate has detected the full 4Gb of RAM. But the thing is I can't see a significant improvement in performance. The programs I use the most are taking the same time to load as before when I only had the Kingston.

What could this be? :(

Thx in advance!

More RAM allows you to have more applications open. It may show a minor improvement in loading of apps but not much as the data comes from the HD or downloads. Win 7 is a memory hog so 4 GB. is about the minimum and Win 7 is still slow compared to earlier, less bloated Windows versions.

Your mobo uses DDR2 667/800 Mhz. memory which is also slower than DDR3 on newer mobos. You can always use Memtest86+ to check the operation of your two different RAM DIMMs.
