I'm working on a new build and I wanted to know which SSD is the best performance-wise, price doesn't matter atm, I just need an 240GB-256GB model.

I'm currently looking at:

Samsung 840 Pro Series

OCZ Vector

Corsair Neutron GTX

Samsung 840 Pro is the fastest and Samsung drives have the best reputation for reliability.

The 4K random simulates daily use.

Compare any 2 drives directly here.

That is a very good price for the 840 Pro as well.

The Vector, Vertex 4 or the 840 Pro are all fine drives. You won't grow wrong with either one.

The Vector is a tiny bit faster than the 840 pro.

That being said, there's no point in buying either of those - the difference between a Vertex 4 or 830 and a 840pro or vector isn't going to be anywhere close to noticeable by a human.

Ummmm no. According to Anandtech the Vector is faster than the 840 Pro in all of 3 of 17 benchmarks. The 840 Pro is generally at the very top of every single benchmark.

another vote for the 840 pro, had one for testing and I observed a notable difference in access times Vs my agi 3 and a vertex 4 i had for testing (mass file copies, large file copies, file encryption and decryption)
