I have an abit NF7 S version 2 board which I am setting up with Windows XP. I have a new SATA hard drive. When I try to install XP, and press F6 to note that I need to install the SATA drivers, I am asked to put a floppy drive in drive A with these drivers. Does anybody have a workaround to have the setup program look for the CD drive. The PC does have a 1.44 floppy drive but I have to find another PC and a 1.44 diskette to get the files to this state. Any ideas how to get around this?

Is the SATA controller configured in AHCI mode? Can't you simply configure the controller in IDE mode and be done with it? AHCI is better, but it won't make a significant diference.

You can also use XP SP2 or SP3 and slipstream the drivers.

nForce2 chipsets don't have native SATA contoller (except the rare and newer nForce2 Ultra 400Gb and 400R).
Those older chipsets usually come with third party controller so he has to install SATA driver before installing WinXP otherwise the HDD won't be recognized.

Unfortunately, the only workaround is to slipstream your SATA driver into your WinXP installation disc, as GhislainG suggested.
