Hey,

After quite a bit of research and deliberation, I think I have everything picked out for my first home built computer. The most difficult part of the research has been compatibility, and I just want to make sure there are no glaring issues with the parts I have picked out before I order them. If anyone who has these parts, or more knowledge of computers than me (definitely most of you) could just take a look at what I'm planning to build and either tell me if I have a compatibility issue, or reassure me that everything should work properly, I would greatly appreciate it. If I did screw up, go easy on me, like I said I haven't done this before.

Ordering all of this from Newegg.com. Already realized that the "bare drive" hard drive is a bad idea, and I have changed that to this: HD103SJ/B 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.5" SAMSUNG 7200RPM 32MB SATA II/300 Internal Hard Drive

OK wow. Great advice. I took all of your suggestions, the corsair PSU/RAM combo, and the P7P55D deluxe mobo.

Will all of this work together though? and will I be able to add a second HD 5870 in the future if I need to?

Personally, I think the P7P55D-E Pro is the best 1156 motherboard, as it includes USB 3.0, at the same price as the standard Deluxe. Here's a comparison.

Bare hard drive isn't a bad idea, you should receive the necessary SATA cables with the motherboard. Open box would be a bad idea, however.

Any of the recommended 850W PSUs and either the P7P55D Deluxe or Pro will be able to CrossFire 2x 5870.

Depends on your needs, of course, but the wireless adapter you have selected is PCI, so it won't be using that extra PCI-E slot, nor will anything else you have picked out currently. Sound cards are all PCI or PCI-E x1, about the only thing I can think of that might use the x4 slot is a RAID card, and many can be bought that don't require it.

Assuming you eventually wanted to go tri-SLI (unlikely at best, as newer graphics cards will be out by that time), you might put it in the x4 slot, but it would suffer a performance hit somewhere on the order of 10% or so, which is less than ideal, as you're already facing diminishing returns with tri-SLI.

USB 3.0 is already in the market and will probably be replacing USB 2.0 within a year or two.

Up to you, but I'd give up that x4 slot for a little bit of future-resistance if it were my own build.
