Hi guys, I have a quick question.

I have 2 4 gig sticks (8 gigs) of ddr3 1333mhz currently.

I also have 2 2 gig sticks (4 gigs) of ddr3 1600mhz sitting around.

So is 4 gigs of ddr3 1600mhz better than 8 gigs ddr3 1333mhz?

I'm not sure how RAM works in detail so I'd like some help understanding.

Solution
8GB trumps 4GB regardless of the DDR3 Frequency. In fact, DDR3-1333 CAS 7 is faster than DDR3-1600 CAS 9.

You 'may' be able to run the 2x4GB + 2x2GB together at DDR3-1333 Frequency IF the DDR3-1600 has the same CAS as the DDR3-1333 and at a JEDEC 667MHz {DDR3-1333}.

Compare the CPU-z 'SPD' tabs on each set.
