Hi,

My 1st gen H67 died so I replaced the mobo with this ASUS P8Z68: http://usa.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z6...

The PC was configured as AHCI with a 120GB SSD boot drive and 2 SATA HDs.

I replaced the mobo without incident, but can't figure out how to get 'Smart Response Technology' working.

The ASUS web site says that one needs Rapid Storage software 10.6. OK, downloaded and installed from Intel. But when I restart Intel Rapid Storage, I don't see a button on the top menu to configure Smart Response.

The ASUS web site also says I need to switch from AHCI to RAID in the BIOS, to make this work, but when I do that, Windows 7-64 blue screens.

I noticed that the ASUS web site seems to indicate I need a BIOS update but the ASUS AI Suite says that the BIOS I have (0401) has no updates available,

So...
1. Will Smart Response work with this mobo? If so, how do I get it to work?

2. If I need to set the drive controller to 'RAID' do I need to completely re-install Windows to get past that blue screen?

TIA,

---JC

Have you read the Intel Smart Response Technology User Guide? It tells you what the system requirements are and how to set it up.

http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/...

If ASUS says you need to do a BIOS update to use the driver then you need to do the update unless you like dealing with a scrambled SSD & HDD.

It doesn't work.
You have to install windows with the SATA port in raid mode.
Asus is just plain wrong. :pfff:

I have the ASUS P8Z68-V Pro motherboard and also got the blue screen after switching to RAID mode. But, there is a fix you can do without reinstalling Windows. I followed the instructions at this link and Smart Response Technology now works perfectly.
