Samsung 830 RAID 0 vs Samsung 840 pro

Hi, I have been thinking about my hard drive upgrades, because my Samsung 830 128GB is running out of space.
I'm using a MacBook Pro, 13 inch 2012 model
Which option is more suitable?

1) Ripping off my superdrive, adding a second SSD (samsung 840 pro 128gb, cuz 830 is out of sale) and setting the two drives for RAID 0

2) Just buying a Samsung 840 pro 256gb ssd

Option 2 comes with around $40 higher price, so i think that option 1 might do well for me
But option 1 might have some failure rate, and possibility of having a raid set that is slower than expected, so im not sure....
Please give me some opinions

  1. Why not buy a mechanical HDD, this way you can keep the performance of the SSD for important things, and have the mass storage of a HDD.

Sorry I'm really not interested in HDDs, i find it really power consuming
Thanks for the help though :)
  3. if you go for having the two drives in raid 0, you will massively lose out on speed as they will drop to the lower speed settings of the two, so I would recommend against that. buying a 256GB 840 pro is the best option for you.
  4. I also would go for a 840 Pro 256 GB, you can secure erase and sell your current drive to reduce extra charge.
