Hi all,

I am purchasing the Antec High Current Gamer 620w PSU and the Gigabyte Z68A-D3-B3 (ATX) motherboard. the PSU comes with a 20+4 pin power connector but the motherboard comes with a 24 pin header. Do I need a 20-24 pin adapter so I can convert 20 pin part of the connector to 24 pin, and then I can use the other 4 pin connector to connect it somewhere near the CPU for extra power. (I have heard you need to connect a 20/24 pin ATX connector AND a 4-pin power connector to the motherboard. I also assume a 4+4 pin power connector can plug into a 4 pin EPS header?

Help is greatly appreciated as I am building my PC in a few days! :)

No, you don't need to buy an adapter. The 20+4 cable from the power supply fits right into the 24 pin header on the MB. There will also be an additional connector on the PS and header on the MB for supplemental CPU power.

Thanks for the response.

For the additional connector, the PSU comes with a 4+4 pin ATX/EPS, is this the connector you are talking about? The motherboard has a 4-pin ATX 12V header, I assume this is what the 4+4 pin ATX/EPS connector plugs into?

Yes on both counts. It will become obvious once you have the PSU and MB laying in front of you.

Thanks again. I really appreciate the help here at Tom's and I can't wait until I gather up all the parts and start building my beast!
