Black screen g60-235dx

Hello,
my laptop displayed a replace hard disk message and smart disk imminent failure message before it went to black screen. I bought a hard drive - but still have a black screen. i bought recovery disks...nothing..no cursor. tried hard reset... the laptop ran hot a lot...could that have burned out the monitor.....any suggestions would be helpful..thank you

Not the monitor, but it's possible that the video adapter failed, since you have no video output whatsoever (or so I understand from your post).
