Hey!

I have a pc with an AsRock p4v88+.

In the manual it says it can hold up to 4gb ddr 333mhz in dual channel.

My problem is when I put the 4th ddr stick the computer doesn't do anything. I just see a black screen. If I only have 3 ddr memory sticks it works fine.

They are all Corsair Value Select 1gb 333mhz ddr's.

The bios version is 1.20. The latest bios version is 1.70. I have never done a bios update nor does this pc have disk drive (I think I can get a drive if it's really necessary)

Am I doing anything wrong? Should I try to upgrade the bios version? Is there any bios configuration that will allow me to have the 4gb?

Thanks

You should have a look thru the BIOS to check if there are any settings pertaining to RAM.

Whether RAM will work or not is a guessing game and you won't always win. It should work if all modules are the same speed/timings/voltage/capacity in each channel and the same speed/timings/voltages in all channels.

If there is any difference between the fourth module and the rest then there's your reason for it not working but if it's the same then it may be a bad module.
