Hi,
I'm building a new computer and I've bought a 3tb wd hdd.
I'm trying to install windows 7 home premium 64 bit on to the drive and I've formatted it as gpt but when i try to install a new version of windows and i select the drive it says windows cant be installed on this drive.

Motherboard:
Gigabyte ga-z77-d3h

Thanks

Q.

Can Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008 read, write, and boot from GPT disks?
A.

Yes, all versions can use GPT partitioned disks for data. Booting is only supported for 64-bit editions on UEFI-based systems.

And your Mobo does not look to be UEFI-based.

Cheers (I learnt something today :) )
