  1. SC2 even on Full HD no AA is actually a tame beast while fallout vegas:

    Quote:
    Multi-core support
    OS: Windows 7/Vista/Xp
    Memory:2 Gigs of Ram
Hard-Drive space: 10 GB of free hard-drive space
Video Card: NVIDIA Geforce 6 series/ATi 1300XT series minimum
    Processorual Core 2.0ghz

Here is a $511AR (w/o OS) config which would do the job and some hehe
  2. These are the specs for fallout new vegas:

Steamworks digital platform (Games for Windows is the certification)
Operating System: XP, Vista, Windows 7
Processor: Dual Core 2Ghz (enhanced for multi-core)
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 6 Series or similar (ATI 1300 minimum)
    Memory: 2GB
    Hard Disc Space: 10GB

    I'll give it a whirl.

Hmm, that puts you at 735 w/o shipping and rebates. A bit over what you stated. Not really good at finding what is good on the cheap. Maybe Batuchka would come and give you something better. Cheers man.
  3. hahaha, speaking of the devil. How do you do it man? hahahah.
  4. Batchuka has a habit of recommending Biostar boards. Which are bottom-end boards. I've had several ECS and Biostar boards pop their capacitors. I never recommend them. Its worth the extra $10 for an MSI or AS Rock board instead
  5. That bad? Guess have to be wary about them then. They sure are cheap though. Thanks for the heads up.
  6. obviously, it doesn't happen to everyone, or Biostar wouldn't have been around for 20 years, but they do have a reputation for corner cutting and lower-quality parts.

I'd rank the major manufacturers in 5 tiers, from best to worst:

    1st tier: Gigabyte, Asus
2nd tier: AMD, Intel reference boards
3rd tief: AS Rock, MSI, Zotac
    4th tier: Biostar, ECS
5th tier: PC Chips (RIP), Jetway, Foxconn
  7. thanks for the answer. i dont want to be a bother, but do you mind clarifying if this will be able to run games like new vegas/online fps's? The way you said new vegas was different got me a little worried...
  8. SC II is a RTS game. It's not terribly taxing on either modern CPUs or modern GPUs. An Athlon II X3 445 with a GTS 450 will run rings around it. Fallout New Vegas is an update of the popular RPG, and will need a more powerfulk system to play at hjigher resolutions. The same PC will play Fallout 3 just fine at, say 1600x900, but not at 1900x1080 resolution, or at least not without some scenes starting to stutter.
  9. oh...then can you suggest a good build that would run new games like new vegas? i assume it will cost more, but maybe not TOO much?
  10. dont worry about fallout las vegas, fallout 3 ran on medium for me on a 9500 GT and dual core processor which is fairly old, so I dont expect fallout las vegas to be any diffrent, goodluck and btw you have a great taste for games :)

here is a build that will run you for $745 all quality parts I would put in a build of mine :)

ram and case: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB, LIAN LI Lancool

    mobo and VGA: GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 AM3 AMD,GIGABYTE GV-R585OC-1GD Radeon HD 5850

PSU and CPU: CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W,AMD Phenom II X4 955

    DVD: samsung DVD burner

    HDD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB

total in the cart: $745 AR
  11. thanks to all answers. i stil have some time before i am buying, so any other opinions are welcome and appreciated!
  12. I need a monitor/screen as well as the computer...also is there anything else i would need to make this build run? a power cord or something?
  13. Batchukas build would run fallout new vegas easily and any other game pretty easily. no, the power supply comes with a power cord.
  14. what should i buy as an OS and monitor for batchuka's build?

And windows 7 64 bit. That video card can play starcraft two on ultra with that monitor but I'm not sure about new vegas. It will be able to play it on AT LEAST high settings.
  16. hey batucka thanks for all the help man, but i have another question? do you think it would be worth investing for a amd 800 series board? if so can you odify the build?...thanks again
  17. That would depend on if you see USB/SATA 3.0 as a must -here is a possible combo
