External hard drive not working

Hello,

I have a 1tb seagate external hard drive. I used a different plug then the one they gave me and now the drive stopped working. Did I completely kill it or is it the power source? If I get a new enclosure can I use the drive again? Please help and thank you for reading this.

  1. When you say a different plug, does that mean you used a different way to POWER it than it came with?

Have you tried it on another computer with all your USB cables?

No but the drive isn't turning on.

Yes I used a different power cord that fit into the drive
  4. In most cases there will be a shorted TVS diode, in which case the fix should cost you nothing.
