More about custom built desktop
  1. a suggested build:

AMD Athlon II X3 445 or 450 processor
    AS Rock 770 Extreme 3 motherboard (Or 785 or 870 or 880)
    4 GB DDR3-1333 RAM
GTs 450 or HD 5770. If you can swing it, a GTX 460
    Samsung F4 320 GB or F3 500 GB, or F3 1 TB hard drive
Antec 300, Coolermaster HAF 912, or Coolermaster 690 case, or a similar case if you like the design.
450-550W PSU from a reliable company (Antec, Sea Sonic, Silverstone, OCZ, Cooler Master), 80+ or better. If possible, modular as well to limit cord tangles.
    a cheap DVD burner (US$16-20).

this assumes you have a keyboard, mouse, OS, and Monitor
  2. I just ordered a pretty cool looking 4.0 GHz system from Amazon.com while waiting for someone to tell me if this was "real" or not. It looks too cool to pass up!
