Hello!

I've been wanting a new CPU for a couple of months now.

I actually decided on a i5 750 a long time ago, but some feedback from this forum adviced me to wait for the Sandy CPU's.

Alright, so they are finally out, more or less. But now, which one should I get?
I've been trying to find out how much performence difference there really is between the i7 2600k and the i5 2500k.

As I have the 460GTX atm, would there be any noticeable difference between i7 and i5?

And why not just get a i7(non-sandy), which cost about the same as a i5 2500k.

Mindfuck.. Someone got some comforting words :p ?

Oh, and the system will mostly be used for gaming.. well not really, but thats the priority..

THAAAANKS for any input..

Thanks for the reply..

Hmm.. Im leaning toward the i5, but I cant help wondering why the i5 and i7 are actually that close to each other..

In a few of the tests, the i5 even outperforms(slightly) the i7..

And considering the price difference(atleast here in DK), the performance difference should be huge..

If you read the whole article then you will see application where the difference is well in favor of the 2600, just not in gaming. It is like has been said on this forum and others, before SB release, that the sweet spot for gaming is/was I5 750/60 and very little increase after that.
