Matshita dvd-ram uj-850s not showing in BIOS or Device Manager

Hello,
my dvd rom drive was working off and on, then suddenly quit all together. doesn't show in Device manager or BIOS. HELP!

I'd say it's probably gone and you'll need to replace it. How old is it? As far as I can remember these dvd drives aren't the best, they tend to go after about 3 years. I just replaced mine and a friends one in the last year so I'd say you'll need a replacement
