Your question

Is this normal for 840 Pro?

I've recently bought a Samsung 840 Pro 256G and reformatted. Did some benchmark tests and was wondering if these are good numbers for a SataII connection.
I wasn't sure if I got these numbers due to my SataII limitation(which is fine) or because of some of configuration problem. I do have a 6gig SataIII but that is a marvell controller and I've only seen bad reports on these forums.

Current specs are
I7 870 2.93 GHz
ASUS P7P55d-E LX (really regret getting this mobo)
8gigs ram
840 pro 256gig.

Benchmarks tests;
CrystalDiskMark:
Read(MB/s) | Write(MB/s)
Seq: 280.9 | 269.3
512K: 270.3 | 267.9
4k: 38.27 | 99.79
4k QD32: 213.6 | 200.4

AS SSD:
Read(MB/s) | Write(MB/s)
Seq: 268.69 | 257.90
4k: 34.69 | 82.10
4k-64Thrd 200.40 | 162.78
Acc.Time .060 ms | .034 ms
Score: 262/ 271
680

I have checked to make sure the firmware was the latest one.
Did the optimization on the Magician program.
Installed latest intel controller drivers.
Reformatted using AHCI mode(verified as well after install)
Also used http://m.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-performance-tweak... for some tweaks.

Will this be the best results I can get with a Sata II controller?

Yes, your results are normal. You can connect the SSD to one of the Marvell SATA 6Gb/s ports and retest if you wish to compare results.

You need to confirm the following:

1. The SSD is set for AHCI in the BIOS.
2. You have applied the latest f/w of the SSD.
3. The SSD is connected to the Intel SATA3 interfaces.
5. The most recent chipset drivers for the mobo have been installed.
5. Run the Magician Software and configure the drive for Over provisioning using the default settings.
6. Run the Magician Software and enable the options listed in OS Optimization tab.
7. Refer to this link: http://thessdreview.com/ssd-guides/optimization-guides/...

I don't see how this is normal! His benchmarks should be near the advertised numbers not half.

The OP's drive is on a SATA 2 (3Gb/s) port. Those speeds are normal for a SATA 2 port. :)

I just edited my post and also realized his entry of using SATAII, my eyes are not what they used to be.

Apologies and thanks for the clarification.
