There is a point in a sound card(I own one and it sounds much better), but unless you've got audio equipement to match it's a waste. And for gaming it's kind of pointless anyways. And on a different note creative are widely disliked amongst audiophiles.

So drop the sound card and forget the 5850. 2 of these http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2=82&bid=2&sid=65422 will smash a 5850 to bits.
