Asus VH236 Monitor no sound

Hello brand new to this site! I have a newly built system. The monitor has no sound. Could there be something wrong in the setup?

MB ASUS/M4A88TD-V EVO/USB 3 880G R
CPU AMD/PH II X4 965 AM3 RT
PSU CM/RS-600-AMBA-D3 600W RT
MEM KINGSTON
WINDOWS HOME PREMIUM 7 (64)

Does the monitor have built in speakers?

If yes, is it connected to the audio jack in the back of the PC?

The VH236 does have built in speakers, but as aford10 mentioned, check that they're plugged into the proper audio port (green if its a headphone connector).
