Hello, Can anyone please tell me the pin layout for power switch on mb for T2778 emachine. The pins are lined up horizontally with 4 on top then 5 next then 3 on bottom. A confused senior citizen trying to get friends computer running. I didn't write down how they were hooked to front panel wires. I would appreciate any help given. Either written description or picture. Thankyou.

I found a a diagram of your front panel pinout. Here are the pins as you described:

0000
00000

000

First, ignore the bottom three pins. They are for an IR receiver.

Now, I'm going to number the two top rows of pins to help guide you:

1234
56789

The power switch connects to pins 3 and 4. Pins 7 and 8 are for the reset button. Your hard drive LED connects to 5 and 6. The power LED connects to 1 and 2. You must have the "+" and "-" for the LED wires correct so if it doesn't light up then switch the wires. For the power and reset switches, it doesn't matter if the wires are swapped.

Summary:

1-2 is power LED
3-4 is power switch
5-6 is HDD activity LED
7-8 is reset switch

Hope this helps.

This sounds like what is on my dell dimension 4600 motherboard that stopped working. If you could help me find the manufacturer of the motherboard I would greatly appreciate. I'm prepared to do some hard core troubleshooting because this was a real good motherboard.

Regards.
