Can't access files on my lacie external HD in windows 8

Though my computer does see the lacie external HD, I cannot access any of the files stored there. I know the lacie functions fine because I just used it to save files on a different computer (apple). Could it be a Windows 8 compatibility issue? Any ideas? Many thanks!

Using the same storage device on both Mac & Windows can prove challenging.
