Hi guys just wondering if anyone can explain this...

At my local retailer they have two "active" displayport to DVI adapters, but the price difference is massive. I know you need an active one for Eyefinity to work so I have to wonder if it's really false advertising or if it will actually work.

$39.99 ACCELL DisplayPort to DVI-D Single-Link Active Adapter

$139.99 Accell UltraAV DisplayPort to DVI-D Dual-Link Adpter

So do I need the expensive one?

I think you only need a single link if you are doing 16 x 10 or lower (it might be 19 x 10) it's only the higher resolutions that require the dual link adapters.

That's great news! The cheaper one states "The adapter works with all DVI-D single-link monitors, displays and projectors, supporting a display resolution of up to WUXGA (1920x1200) at 8 bits of color per component" and I'm running 1920x1080 so you're saying it should work just fine? Saving that $100 would be really awesome.

I've not tried it so I can't say for sure but that's what it looks like to me.

Ok well thanks a lot. I suppose if it doesn't work I can always return it. Now I just have to wait for it to be in stock...
