Internal drive doesn't appear in disk manager, my computer

I'm running Windows 8 on a PC using a solid state drive as my main drive. I'm using an asrock z77e-itx motherboard and 3 3TB WD Red drives as secondary drives. I am able to see each drive in device manager under hard drives and in the motherboard bios. I am even able to see them in storage spaces, and use storage spaces to create a parity/mirror pool. When I use storage spaces to create the pool, I'm able to see the drive in my computer.

However, if I don't use storage spaces, I can't see the drives in my computer, and I can't see them in disk manager either. I've looked around the forums and tried a couple different options, tried installing the most recent version of Intel Smart Response, updating my intel chipset drivers from their site, nothing's done anything. In summary-

I CAN see my 3 drives in-
-Device Manager
-Storage Pools
-BIOS when I go to storage configuration (I have them in AHCI mode)

I CAN'T see my 3 drives in-
-my computer
-disk manager

I've tried-
-Installing the newest Intel chipset drivers
(http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&...*&DownloadType=Drivers)
-Installing the newest asrock sata raid drivers
-Installing the newest intel rapid storage drivers
-Installing the 3TB unlocker driver
(The 3 above drivers installed from http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=Z77E-ITX&o=...)

I have no idea where this problem can be coming from. Many thanks in advance for the help on this, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
