I'm wanting to build a computer for searching the web(alot of youtube, facebook, ect) basic video editing and watching movies... Just looked around for a few hours on newegg and these fourms and this is what i came up with. Ill probably end up getting 4 more gb of ram and a graphics card for blackfriday/christmas. My budget atm is around 400 dollars so im open to suggestions on what i should change but cant really get anymore expensive. I already have all components (keyboard, mouse, speakers, os, monitor, ect)

More about first build
  1. Looks good to go to me you could safe a little on the PSU though since a 450 watt unit would run that fine with spare power. This would be my choice based on today's prices at Newegg
  2. Thanks
would this ram work better or is it even compatible with my motherboard?
    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
Its got great reviews which im sure all of you know but i just dont know if it works with my mothboard
  3. It will work with your motherboard, it will only run at a slower speed than the 1600 unless you overclock.
  4. Actually is gaming on the table? Also what app/software for video editing? Vegas, Premiere, etc?
  5. probably wont game on it. And i would use Sony Vegas Pro 9 and might try to get adobe after effects.
  6. Hmm Vegas is strictly CPU bound so i would squeeze as much CPU power in that $400 as humanly possible :P

  7. I like the processor us suggested just didnt like the mob that came in the combo deal...

ok lets say i waited a little bit... im 16 and have 2 job interviews this upcoming week so if i get one i should be able to expand my price range. So could someone give me a couple different builds at like $450 and then at $600. Thanks

It will run at 1600MHz; he just has to manually set it in the BIOS.
  9. I have the ASUS M4A785-M (the older version of the mobo you picked; uses DDR2 RAM).
The integrated video would probably be enough to use a few video programs/games, so you could buy the computer and use it until you can get the money to put in a dedicated GPU. Even then, you could get some cheaper ATI cards (high 4000s, low 5000s) for $30-50 on Newegg.
