Do I have a dead motherboard? No beep, no BIOS screen.

Gateway computer is two years old and it will not power up. There is no sound and the screen is black. The power light is on but the hard drive light does not come on.

  1. Have you used the computer recently, or is this the first time booting the machine up in awhile?

Motherboard is likely the problem. Easiest way to test is to swap it out.
  2. try to replace good PSU.... ..

It was working fine before I install the via card.

my old cooler master is working fine.
  4. Hmm, at first I had a similar issue with my old AMD board...but it got wierder. The power button would fire it up, but not turn it off. No POST beep, no video, with both the dedicated graphics and my graphics card. Took it to pros, their best guess is the Southbridge was toast. it explained why months earlier the dedicated video stopped working.
