Am2+ compatible with am3 mobo

will a am2+ cpu work on a am3 mobo...the reason i am askin is ..wantin to upgrade my pcbut just have the cash for mobo and ram

No. AM3 CPUs work in AM2+ motherboards though.

Why would you want to upgrade your motherboard and ram though? The best DDR2 is as cheap as the mid range DDR3 and performs about the same or slightly worse. There are few, if any applications that will benefit from the upgrade.
