Have you tried removing and reinserting the drive? If not, shut down the computer, remove the drive, restart the computer and reinsert the drive. If it recognizes the drive check to make sure no data has been lost. If this fails then try using the drive as an external drive ( http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00447792.pdf ).

Have you tried it on another computer after using all your USB cables?
If you get the same result, you have to format it. However, in order to recover your data back, you need try a free drive recovery tool that has helped my friend recover his inaccessible data from a WD pen drive. He is really luckily.

Therefore, if you want to try it, you could visit it there: -http://blog4mark.blogspot.com/2013/01/unformat-memory-c...

Important note: After the recovery process, you should remember to format this drive.
You must learn a valuable lesson to make multiple backups of your important data regularly.

I did not try your solution. I only have one computer at my disposal. I gave up and formatted the drive and it now works. Thanks for your reply.
