HP Personal Drive not accessible

Hello,
I attempted to access my HP personal media drive (HP HD 1200) and message says "You ned to format the drvice in drive K:
K:\ is not accessible.
It was just fine yesterday and I have done nothing. I know if I format the drive I lose all data, not good. HP offered nothing to help. Any ideas?

Have you tried removing and reinserting the drive? If not, shut down the computer, remove the drive, restart the computer and reinsert the drive. If it recognizes the drive check to make sure no data has been lost. If this fails then try using the drive as an external drive ( http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00447792.pdf ).

I did not try your solution. I only have one computer at my disposal. I gave up and formatted the drive and it now works. Thanks for your reply.

Hi there mdixon,

Even though you reformatted the drive, in case the data on it is not overwritten, you should be able to retrieve at least some of it.
