Advice on $1000 multipurpose new build

Last response: in Systems

Approximate Purchase Date: Will start buying parts now through next few months (rather then finance thru cc)

Budget Range: $600-$1000 (US) Before Rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, music recording/production, dual boot Win7, Ubuntu (high speed encoding not a prioity)

Parts Not Required: only have Windows 7 Home Premium (need monitor etc)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com

Country of Origin: US

Parts Preferences: intel?, case to sit on floor so front ports near top would be nice. Need SD reader & lots of USB ports too. Front (or top) mount headphone & mic jacks.

Overclocking: Maybe (but probably not if this means loud fans)

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Monitor Resolution: don't have monitor yet but would like decent size. I have a laptop w VGA out and would like to be able to use this monitor with that too-- although I guess I could use a VGA to whatever adapter.

Additional Comments: would like quiet PC, future proof.

Well as u can see u can cheap out and get mind boggling good $$/frames in games or splash on SSD, etc and still be within your means Hmm now that i think of it with an IGP mobo u could also wait on the GPU purchase since HD 6000 are so near and we could see price revisions across the board hehe
