Hi everyone,

I'm building a new system and I'm getting a sata3 ssd along with it. Now I'm wondering whether there any hardware requirements to be able to use this ssd at its full speed (about 500mb/s). I'm planning to get a core i3-3225 (3.3ghz) and 4gb of ddr3 1333 ram. Am I fine with that?

Thanks!

To get advertised Read/Write speeds from any SATA 3 (6Gb/s) SSD you need a motherboard with native 6Gb/s ports.

That means if you have an Intel CPU then you need a motherboard with Intel SATA 3 ports.
If you have an AMD CPU then you need a motherboard with AMD SATA 3 ports.

A motherboard with 3rd party SATA 3 ports (such as Marvell or ASMedia) you will get SATA 3 speeds but you will not get your SSD's advertised speeds.
