Ok ive been canvassing thru my local store which cards are available for $70. I need help choosing among:

4670 ddr3, 5550ddr3, 5570 ddr3, gts240ddr5, 9800gt ddr2.

This would be on a 1600x900 resolution, and for not so demanding games like wow.

Tnx!

yea it's this: Inno3D 9800GT 512ddr2 128bit hdmi.

lol. actually after my original post, i found a 9600gt 512mb ddr3 256bit for $50. might be getting that :) )

but would a gts240 ddr5 512mb 128bit or the 5570 512mb 128bit ddr3 be a better choice among the 3 we narrowed down?

thanks

I'm sure that isn't a 9800GT. Must be some rebranded GPU.

Anyway, you should consider the GT240 GDDR5. It's 40nm tech, opposed to 9600GT's 65nm and 4670's 55nm, cooler, but equal in speed, has DX10.1 support if that counts:D

Either the gts240 or the HD5570

I highly recommend you put off buying a card and save up slightly more. An HD4850 can often be found on sale for $90 and is much more appropriate for your resolution.

i agree, save up slightly more and get a gts250, assuming your PSU can handle it. otherwise get the ati 5670, low power, reasonable performance, DX11.

I would like to reiterate that you look at your PSU first. Secondly,

Take your time and watch the deal sites (logicbuy, dellcoupons) --- as has been suggested ATI HD 4850s and NVIDIA GTS 250s have been dipping into this price range on special offers. They are getting cleared out of inventory for the newer cards. Last week newegg had a sapphire 4850 for $79--but its back up to $94 now. The cards will be back soon though.

That said, the 5670 or 9800GT would be more than enough for playing WOW or anything like it. Either would be an excellent choice -- and are better than the other options you suggested.
