Hi there, i'm building a new pc and any advice on my parts chosen would be apprecicated, thanks.

Monitor, keyboard and mouse is not required.
Main usage of pc would be for playing games.
Budget is between USD1400-1600

So far, this is the setup i am going with:

Case : Antec p183 $ 155
PSU: Antec cp-850W $120 (might get an antec cp-1000w) since a combo deal on newegg for case + psu is only $265

Mobo + Processor : Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R , Processor : i7 950 3.06ghz $484 combo deal.

any thoughts on the msi x58 PRO-E mobo? or should i stick with the Gigabyte mobo

RAM: CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) $130

Video Card: 2 x GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) Superclocked 1GB 256-bit (SLI) $260*2

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB SATA 6gb/s 64mb cache $90

CPU Cooler: Scythe Mugen 2, rev b. $48
Thermal Paste: ARCTIC COOLING MX-2 Thermal Compound $10

Optical Drive: LG 22X DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model GH22NS40 - OEM. $17

Your case+psu combo
p7p55d-e pro + 480 gtx combo
i5-750
g.skill 1600 ram 4gb
Spinpoint f3 1tb

$1262 after mir.

Add your cooler and paste and dvd/cd

= $1337 <--- that alone is a great reason to buy it lol + you get free mafia 2 game.

Need an OS? Add $100 for windows 7.

I'd recommend the p55 setup instead of the x58 because you wont see any difference in fps between the 2 setups, and its cheaper. I also recommend 1x 480 instead of 2x 460 even though they perform slightly better in some cases. The reason for this is that your already getting a 1000w psu, and you'll have room to sli in the future for some serious kick*ss.

case wise, does the antec p183 have enuf airflow to support 2 gtx 480s though since they have a high heat lvl

1. WHy 2xGTX460s? Get a GTX480 now and add another one later.

2. I prefer to get CM690II, HAF922, Antec 900II or 1200 for 2 GTX480s.

3. Interested on having an SSD? If yes, Crucial C300, OCZ Vertex 2 or G.Skill Phoenix pro is good.

4. Any chance of AMD X4 and/or HD5850 for your system?

if i use any of those cases u mentioned, whats a good decent priced PSU, 750W+ at least since i wont be able to use the cp-1000w with those cases

not really looking for a SSD at this point in time

hd 5850 maybe, but dont really wanan use amd atm.

With OC and stuff :
2 GTX480s will need I would say about 850-1000W.
HD5850s need less power, 2 of them will need about 650-750W.
But GTX480 is indeed more powerful than HD5850.

I always choose the best for the PSU because a defect PSU can damage your whole rig. I would choose Corsair, Seasonic, Antec, Enermax, Tagan, SIlverstone, or PPC. To reduce the price of the PSU, choose the none modular one.
