NTFS Volume Sizing

Hello,

Do NTFS sizing tools work the same with different NTFS partitions from different OS's ie XP vs Vista, Win 7 or Win8? Back when I got a Vista Laptop the resizing utilities noted their products didn't work with Vista NTFS partitions as the MFT was located at the end of the partition. The utility would trash the entire partition.

I can't find any tech doc that describes any difference between XP's NTFS, Vista, Win7 & 8 that would render resizing utilities not to work. Is this correct or are there severe differences?

I don't see why resizing wouldn't work. Easiest way is to use the build-in resize of windows though.
