1 graphic card for my pc with the dvi and my monitor by hdmi one for my lcd tv w

I have a Nvidia graphic card in my pc already hooked up to my monitor. And i just bought a gigabyte 5450 card so that i could hook up my tv to my pc so i could watch movies on it from my pc. So i put the card it and downloaded it, but my pc won't reconize it. So I took my old card out and put the new in its spot and the monitor won't even reconize it still. Is there a way that I could get it to work?
