I have a Nvidia 7900 GT/GTO card that has started showing smears to the right. Here is nvidia dump:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (2400 MHz)
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium, 32-bit
DirectX version: 11.0
GPU processor: GeForce 7900 GT/GTO
Driver version: 258.96
Core clock: 650 MHz
Memory clock: 660 MHz (1320 MHz data rate)
Memory interface: 256-bit
Total available graphics memory: 1918 MB
Dedicated video memory: 512 MB GDDR3
System video memory: 0 MB
Shared system memory: 1406 MB
Video BIOS version: 5.71.22.39.09

I have latest driver and up to date Windows 7 software. Tried cleaning and restarts etc... still the same. I have seen lots of posts with this problem, but no solution. Only people saying install latest display driver.

Any ideas?

Does your motherboard have an integrated GPU? If so, remove your 7900 and coonect to your monitor via the integrated GPU. Intent is to verify whether the problem is the GPU or the monitor.

If the integrated GPU shows the same problem, it is the monitor. If the problem goes away, it is time for a new GPU.

If you don't have an integrated GPU, maybe you have access to another GPU that you can switch out.

Good luck!
