Hi guys!

I have just built this system and it would be great if someone could help me to review it, in case there I put things together that don't fit, or if you think it would be better to change some components :).

I have not been following the market for few years now, but after reading forums and looking to benchmarks I have decided to go for a I7 :).

So here is the system:

Processor: Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz Socket 1366 8MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor
Mobo : Asus P6X58D-E X58 Socket 1366 Gigabit Lan Tripple PCI-E 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
RAM : Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz XMS3 Dominator Memory CL8(8-8-8--24) for i7 Motherboards
Cooler : Corsair Cooling Air Series A70 Socket Intel 775, 1156, 1366 AMD AM2 AM3 Performance CPU Cooler
Graphix : Sapphire HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI DisplayPort HDCP PCI-E Graphics Card

Case : Antec 300 Three Hundred Case
Power : Arctic Power 700W PSU - With PCI-E, 4x SATA, 20+4, ATX12V, 8pin +12V Connectors - Retail Boxed
Opt.Drive: Samsung SH-S223 22x DVD±RW DL & RAM SATA Optical Drive - OEM Black
HD : Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive SATAIII 7200rpm 64MB Cache - OEM Caviar Black
Wireless : Linksys by Cisco Wireless-N Dual-Band PCI Adapter
Monitors : Samsung SyncMaster P2450H 24" Monitor 1920x1080 2ms 70,000:1- HDMI Gloss Black

I will be using it for software development (fast compilation times, some 3d, and image manipulation), and gaming (battlefield 2, COD, etc).

I have doubts about the hard drive asswell, since I am thinking that it might be better a RAID 0 with two smaller drives to get fast response times.

The money I am willing to spend is around 1200£.

Thanks in advance guys!

If you can find 3x2GB Triple Channel DDR3-1600 with a CAS Latency of 7, that would be faster than 8. (Latency is the delay between operations)

I don't know your PSU brand so I can't speak for it.

Most everything else looks pretty good.
