What are the constraints on memory?

Difference memory frequencies up to 1600... Do you need specific hardware to run these? I have an i7-875k 2600.. Can I run 16GB of 1600MHz memory with this processor is it dependent on the motherboard?

Check the motherboard specs carefully before ordering ram or the board itself. Most boards have a ram qvl listing of tested ram brands and model numbers. This is especially important when using all 4 ram slots. You will probably have to set the ram speed manually or overclock the cpu to run at 1600, but 1333 is plenty fast if you don't want to change the board settings.
