Can 2600K really compare to 980?

Hi, I am a gamer and I stream my game throu Ustream.
I recently want to upgrade my computer, and I have do some research. There is a guy he stream his game in HD so I have ask his spec

However I don't need SSD or second computer for my rig, from some artical I heard 2600k can compete with 980.
Is there any true at all? In term of video encoding (stream) 2600k really can compete with 980?
I have plen to upgrade my graphic and memory in the future, if the 2600k can compete with 980. then I guess I will order it in this month.

If you're running LGA775 then you're probably running DDR2 memory, so if you upgrade your processor you'll need a new motherboard and RAM.

In gaming the 2600K competes with the 980X so if that's what you're into it's the way to go as it's much cheaper. Take a look at the 2600K reviews to see some hard benchmarks.
