Replaced P8P67 with an identical MB - but now Windows just BSODs!

Finally got an RMA replacement for my P8P67 Deluxe motherboard which refused to work with more than one stick of RAM. No problem with both sticks of RAM with the replacement but Windows 7 64-bit simply BSODs almost immediately (STOP: 0x0000007B).

Windows Startup Repair can't fix it. I've tried setting everything I can remember in the BIOS to the same settings I had before I replaced the motherboard. Also tried Optimised Defaults. The BIOS on the new MB is a couple of versions older than what I had before.

Is it normal to have to reinstall Windows after an identical motherboard replacement? If I had known that was the case, I would have just kept the original motherboard and lived with the one stick of RAM!

I hope you have a retail windows OS.

OEM windows bind themselves just to one motherboard among other things.

And yes the Motherboard is the foundation of all things computer until the future arrives when we buy a CPU, GPU, RAM, Network and storage in a brick from Acme.
