So, I've been trying to solve this solution for awhile now and nothing has seemed to work. I currently run an ssd as my OS drive and have a 750gb Sata 3Gb/s Seagate Barracuda as a bulk/program drive.

For the first year or so it worked fine, until a few months ago. It started randomly dropping the bulk drive.

The only way I could get it to recognize the drive again was to shut down, change the port, and turn it back on. It will recognize the drive, but will drop it within the hour.

I've disabled all power saving modes, swapped out the sata cable twice, I just can't quite seem to figure it out.

I've tried to do backups and it transfers incredibly slow and after a few min. it drops the hard drive. So you transfer like 2 megs. I'm gonna try and piggy back it through a usb cable and maybe it'll stay connected as an "external". I'm not sure what else to do.
