I'll be doing programming, some music recording and a few games.

Thanks

It wont work, you have an LGA 1366 board with an LGA 1156 CPU. Its also not a very good pick of the parts, i would go with an i7 950, a good air cooler, a standard Caviar Black drive, and a 3x2GB kit.

i7 950 $295
Thermaltake Frio $59
1TB Caviar Black $90
3x2GB 1600MHz CL7 Gskill Pi Series $155
XFX 850W PSU $150 - $20MIR

Saves you $79 before $20 MIR, gives you a CPU that will work with that board, a better cooler, and a much better PSU, that Coolermaster unit only has a 2 year warranty which is far from inspiring.

good catch hunter but i would go with samsung spinpoint f3. Also your cpu you picked might be fast but your gpu will be bottlenecking your system when it comes to gaming. trie to atleast get 5870 or wait til the 6000 series comes out.

Hunter's HDD is faster, albeit more expensive. Also, it doesn't appear like the OP is going to be doing much intense gaming. Any particular reason for that high end of a motherboard? You could probably do a little better on the PSU too -
PSU: XFX Black Edition 750W -$130-

Finally, you may want to fill out the Build Advice form in my signature.

OK. So I've taken Hunter's advice on everything but the power supply. I'd really like to stick with a PS that has modular connectors is possible. Is there one you would recommend with that feature?

Also, why the fan cpu cooler instead of the liquid cooler?

Thanks,
Rut

The XFX units linked by me and Jkaerlent are both semi modular units with a few hard wired cables like the 24pin main and the 8 pin CPU power connector, but the majority of them are modular.

The sealed liquid coolers like the H50 while they are pretty good for shorter cases that cant fit a full tower heatsink, they dont perform as well as a big tower heatsink that costs less does since they dont have as much surface area on their fins or fans that are quite as strong.
