3tb drive

Looking at getting a 3th drive to replace my two 1tb drives. Looking at two bare drive on Newegg.

  1. Does your computer have the requirements to use a 3tb drive? Ie, UEFI bios, 64 bit OS? If so, i'd always go for the Barracuda, Ive got that peticular drive myself.   2. You only need a EUFI motherboard if you plan on booting from that drive, otherwise it will work fine as a storage drive.

    Q. Can Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008 read, write, and boot from GPT disks?

    A. Yes, all versions can use GPT partitioned disks for data. Booting is only supported for 64-bit editions on UEFI-based systems.
