Lag issues in UT2004

Has anyone noticed that sometimes when people join a server, their lag will
show as 999 and it slows the whole server down and causes massive lag for
everyone else? What's the deal with that? Anyone know what causes it? Any
idea if they're working on that for the next patch? I find the net code for
UT2004 too be a little weak and in serious need of tweaking. There have
been times when my everyone in the game I was playing had pings of under 100
and the game was still laggy. Of course that could just mean the server was
overburdened but still. This seems to be more of an issue with UT2004 than
it was with UT2003 or the original UT. Any idea or comments?

    That is probably AntiTCC (server security) doing it's job. There a pant load of
    things it has to check that is if the server has got it loaded.

    I've noticed this issue when players join a server that have the official
    patch installed and get the "speedhack detected" message - and the server
    was not updatet, but maybe i am wrong?

    Some serves I get "speedhack detected" many times. I think too many people
    playing, 29/32 server can't handle it. My solution is to leave.

    Instead of leaving, send the server admin an email and complain about
    the situation. Our FAQ contains the solution to the problem.
