Hello,
I recently purchased the asus rampage 3 formula motherboard and the corsair deliminator 3 X 4 g RAM kit. After I installed the RAM in a 1,3,5 configuration the computer would not post. After I moved all of the RAM one position to the left 2,4,6, it posted but displayed that my RAM was running at 1066 speed. I then updated the bios for the motherboard off of the asus website and turned on the XMP profile and was able to clock the RAM at 1866 but with providing higher than normal voltage to the RAM, I believe it was around 1.7.

Does anyone have this motherboard/RAM combo and experienced the same issue?

Any insight regarding the issue would be GREATLY appreciated.

Here are the links...

First the Mobo-

Now the RAM-

Doesn't seem right. The RAM should do 2000 at 1.65 and is supposedly tested at that speed. The XMP should try that. The non-XMP should have been 1333. I would contact Corsair first and see if maybe you got the wrong parts.

The RAM may have a default SPD programming of 1066 Mhz. You'd need to select the XMP profile in the BIOS for it to boot at the XMP preset frequency and voltage. You can also manually enter the latency and DIMM voltage in the BIOS to adjust if it is not correct per the label on the DIMMs.

The 2000 Mhz. frequency means the RAM has been tested to run that speed but you must manually set it in the BIOS. There is also no guarantee that your CPU will run the RAM @ 2000 Mhz. without issue though some CPUs will.

I did set my bios to load from the XMP preset.
I am also running an intel I-7 processor at 2.8 ghz.
Here is a link for the specs-

Yes I understand. You'll note that the default RAM speed is 800/1066 Mhz. for your CPU. The XMP profile is one developed by Intel and presumed to work on your CPU. If you want to try running the RAM at a higher frequency than the XMP profile then you need to manually change the BIOS settings and test to see if your system will run the RAM @ 2000 Mhz. without issues.

So rather then just loading the XMP profile you are saying I should manually set the ram speed myself? Should I have the XMP profile enabled when I do this? If my system does not run it at the mentioned speed would it be an issue brought on due to the cpu?

Thanks for the advice so far as well.
