Motherboard/Video card frustration

Gentlemen,
You're my only hope (much like obi-wan) and I'm flummoxed.
I have about a 1month old Gateway 4860 u21p. Please don't laugh or tease, it's a huge step up from my old machine.
The onboard video S-U-X, and unfortunately my old video card I had in my old machine crapped out.
So, I just had delivered today my brand new PNY GeForce GTX 460.

Now, I have a basic ability to work on my computer: I've changed harddrives, memory, power supplies and the like. I'm no 'expert', but I get around.
In my experience, new hardware has always been true plug-and-play.

I plug in my new card and it's like it doesn't exist. The install disk doesn't see it, Device Manager doesn't see it.
The instructions say to enter bios and change primary display driver to PCI - but my bios doesn't have that OPTION!

So, it must be a motherboard jump? But I can't find a single piece of info on my motherboard or how to proceed.
It's an acer motherboard (says right on it), but belarc says it's a gateway board:
Board: Gateway DX4860
Serial Number: 109341180004036
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. P01-A2 04/07/2011

Acer support, Gateway support - no help.
Gateway manual - doesn't exist
I can't find anything online.

Turns out my powersupply was too wimpy to run everything at once. Upgrade to a Corsair 650w and it's all running like a champ!
